In the position of Deployment Technical Infra Program Manager (TIPM), you will be tasked with collaborating with multiple project managers and engineers involved in deploying MSP solutions. This encompasses deployments at both newly constructed sites and operational fulfillment centers. The TIPM is responsible for monitoring project progress, including deliverables, budget adherence, scope management, resource constraints, vendor performance, technical challenges, and handling escalations from their team and partner teams. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, TIPM guides them through the entire lifecycle, from planning and execution to ramp-up support. The TIPM should be adept at developing new work scopes for a program, including creating Requests for Proposals (RFPs), establishing requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for vendors, managing resource expectations, and overseeing hardware development from concept to implementation and ramp-up. Typically owning either a full program or a program region, the TIPM sets standards and maintains quality within their scope of responsibility. This role requires comfort in handling highly technical work scopes related to automation installation, as well as addressing typical project management escalations that may arise during installations at construction sites or live operation warehouses.
The ideal candidate is proactive and takes independent initiative in program management. In parallel to the execution, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement ideas into both the deployment cycle time (safety, quality and productivity), and will be responsible for detailing engineering design improvements to the hardware engineering and product teams, to simplify the installation. This role will require the ability to build relationships and capture and synthesize the voice of the customer. Come help us make history! Key job responsibilities
You will manage the development of project plans and technical solutions which may not be defined, including problem statement and resource requirements definition.
You will influence decisions on deployment and machine performance execution strategy to senior level leadership. You will manage end to end technical programs, including software/hardware integrations.
You will collaborate with technical teams (software/hardware) to improve and optimize solutions.
You will make recommendations on deprecating or adding technical features to products
You will own the tactical planning on the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact across the functions of schedule, scope, cost and product performance.
You will own the strategy of your program for annual planning of resources and budget, defining deployment plans of record and continuous improvement goals. This includes setting standards, driving mechanisms and delivering efficiencies across both deployment execution and machine performance, based on your own observations and the voice of the customer.
You will own communication of program execution and performance both verbally and in writing, consolidating inputs across multiple internal cross-functional business teams.
This is a travel-based role and you will be expected to travel to meet the requirements of your projects across North America, upwards of 75% or more. Valid US driver’s license required.
A day in the life
In this role you will be focused on deployment project management, and the product ramp up support. On a daily basis you will be expected to collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams, to ensure the product you are deploying, is both ready for deployment and capable of achieving the business requirements. You will travel to your project sites, collaborate both virtually and in person, to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status. You will manage the day to day project scheduling and budget management, and work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space. You will spend time with mentors and your manager to develop your professional skills, and collaborate amongst your team to move the needle on the services you are accountable for.
About the team
The Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience (MSP CX) team works backwards from Internal Customer insights to Validate, Deploy and Support MSP solutions in Brownfield and Greenfield Sites globally, maximizing solutions readiness and customer satisfaction. MSP CX maintains unified accountability in the field towards our internal Customers (Maintenance, Operations, ACES, Process Engineering, GES Ops Engineering, etc.), enabling vertical integration and life-cycle management of MSP solutions across 3 pillars: (I) Quality Assurance (MSP CX-QA), (II) Deployment & Ramp-up (MSP CX-DR), and (III) Support (MSP CX-S). The role will part of the MSP CX_DR is responsible for on-site implementation activities providing continuity from early field-Alphas/prototypes, through Betas, and up to General Availability (GA) through the first few months of site ramp-up.
Basic Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Engineering or related STEM field. BA/BS in Business or Supply Chain with 10+ years of additional technical experience.
7+ years of experience leading overall end-to-end project delivery including resources, CAPEX, schedule and vendor management.
5+ years experience with contract management and legal aspects related to vendor agreements.
5+ years in managing project portfolios, budgets and decentralized resources to execute project goals in a global environment
5+ years experience in Robotics, Automation, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or other warehouse environments.
5+ years experience tracking Capital (budget) documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet the business KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
Excellent business communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in project management tools and software
Preferred Qualifications
MBA/MS degree in Engineering or related STEM field. MS/MBA in Business or Supply Chain
10+ years of experience with technical project portfolio management.
7+ years experience working on developing and presenting vendor selection strategy to company leadership.
7+ years working on infrastructures projects in Robotic, Automation, Construction, IT, MHE.
7+ years of site launch experience deploying packaging and robotics automation in retail, distribution, logistics or similar industry.
7+ years experience managing multiple vendors globally.
PMP Certification.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
