Michigan State University(MSU) Research Associate HFHS - Fixed Term in Detroit, Michigan

Position Summary

Dr. Steele's lab is seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join us in our efforts to eliminate the third largest cancer killer in the United States, pancreatic cancer. This position offers opportunities to utilize multi-omits innovative approaches such as scRNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and multiplex IHC/IF/RNAScope. Our research focuses on understanding the biology of pancreatic cancer initiation and early progression, and how late-stage pancreatic tumor cells escape treatments and metastasize to the liver. We actively collaborate with clinicians and industry partners to develop innovative assays to tailor immune checkpoints for pancreatic cancer patients and identify more effective treatments for this deadly disease. Dr. Seele has published highly impactful reports in academic journals such as Nature Cancer, Clinical Cancer Research, etc, and is a self-trained cancer bioinformatics expert in addition to her years of benchwork research. She currently holds academic appointments as Assistant Scientist at Henry Ford Health and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University, and Department of Pathology at Wayne State University. The lab is located in the Henry Ford Hospital. The Henry Ford Pancreatic Cancer Center was established with the support of a $36 million donation from an anonymous donor. Scientists at our center have on-site access to instruments for advanced confocal microscopy, high-content imaging, single-cell dissociated and spatial transcriptomics, histology, automated drug dispensing, and other state-of-art technologies for biomedical research. Henry Ford Health, an academic partner of Michigan State University, provides cancer care for over 14,000 patients per year, making us uniquely positioned to conduct translational cancer research. This individual will work with lab PI to design research projects, conduct experiments, analyze and report research results, and supervise lab technicians. In addition, the individual is expected to present research results at scientific conferences and write manuscripts for publication.
