THE WELLNESS PLAN MEDICAL CENTERS REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST in DETROIT, Michigan
::: {testid="job-description-review-id"} Under the direction of the Dental Director, this position is responsible for performing a full range of dental hygienist's duties, protocols and procedures.
- This position provides preventive, therapeutic and intraoral services; including, but not limited to, performing hygiene duties such as examining teeth and other oral structures, cleaning teeth.
- Promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning as needed, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies.
- Charting conditions of decay and disease.
- Applying sealants, topical fluoride; and performs radiological procedures without the direct supervision of a Dentist.
- Assist in the training of Dental Assistants and other office staff; and development and promotion of opportunities and strategies to build the practice including development of the budget for the Hygienist practice.
- Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Support a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
- Maintain facilities and equipment cleanliness and safety and report and /or correct hazard, when necessary, in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including OSHA.
- Ensure compliance with policies and protocols of the organization as well as State, Federal and other regulatory.
- Participate in Performance Management process.
- Provide and practice Customer Service Excellence Standards, Service Steps, and Principles are practiced daily with internal and external customers to the organization.
- Provide and support an environment that fosters diversity and recognizes the contribution of all individuals.
- Acts as a patient advocate and liaison between the patient/family and community service agencies (i.e,. schools, Department of Human Services, Health Care of Homeless, hospitals, support groups).
- Ensures that The Wellness Plan Medical Centers is in compliance with privacy and security regulatory requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
- Ensure compliance with The Wellness Plan Medical Centers' Affirmative Action Program.
- Perform other duties as needed/or as assigned.
What the Registered Dental Hygienist will need:
- Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited college or university.
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
- Must have a valid State of Michigan Registered Dental Hygienist License.
- Current CPR and radiation safety certification.
- 5-years' experience with direct patient services, dental hygiene therapy, and knowledge of dental practices, procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of principle, practice and current developments of Dental Hygiene.
- Experience and proper knowledge of maintaining dental devices and use of equipment.
- Effectively communicating verbally with diverse populations.
- Provide excellent customer service and manage demanding customers and patient situations.
- Flexible, sense of urgency, able to prioritize, organize, problem solve and work independently with minimal guidance.
- Analytical and critical thinker, maintain confidentiality and professional behavior at all times.
- Working knowledge of computers, office management practices and computer applications principles utilized in a dental practice.
- Strong organization and planning skills; detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; work well with others.
