Detroit Diesel Corporation Manufacturing Assembly Process Engineer III in Detroit, Michigan

Responsible for planning sub systems and contributing to complex projects which could include: research vendors, create / assist with technical specifications, request quotations, select vendors, create timelines, issue purchase requisitions (coordinate with Purchasing), schedule tryouts, assist in the qualification, installations, and approve equipment/tooling for projects. Understand and assist in leading the design and development of systems and continuous improvements. Able to apply process and standards to a project with some guidance. Responsible for funding planning and tracking of projects based on Daimler standard project funding principles (CAPEX, NRE, EA1, EA2, and OP). Manage/assist in adopting spending plans to meet cost targets, including large scale projects. Able to identify shortfalls in projects or tasks and independently develop counter-measures. Assist in proper resolutions and implementation. Able to apply project management tools for your project / task. Provide process engineering support and project management in integrating equipment, systems, materials, facilities, and processes into a cohesive, cost efficient and production manufacturing system. Promote continuous improvements and implement in projects. Understand product design changes and impacts to the production process, especially to engine (Heavy Duty and Medium Duty) and Transmission lines. Assist in suggesting and implementing product or process design modifications, where applicable and make process, tooling, fixtures, or assembly recommendations, including budget estimates as part of the review process. Schedule time according to established jobĀ  priorities. Monitor work progress and resolv es problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects. Effectively work with hourly and skilled trades union workers. Provide management with regular reports / presentations on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes. Professionally represent ME and actively participate in CVDS and PPR projects. Carry out regular communication and collaboration with the global ME team. Show the ability lead themselves. Ensure engineering practices comply with government regulations and safety standards. Perform special projects.

5% domestic/international travel required annually.
