Educational Outreach Specialist, Law School

Essential functions (job duties):

The purpose of this role is to increase overall enrollment in the undergraduate programs offered in the Law School. This role will manage recruitment activities and various outreach programs specific to those programs. This role will collaborate with the Associate Director, Graduate and Undergraduate Programs to develop an annual recruitment plan as well as work with the marketing and communications team for effective messaging and marketing assets.

Develop, implement and evaluate outreach programs and initiatives, with community partners and future students. Collaborate with Law School and community stakeholders to increase student admission, enrollment and retention, in support of the strategic goals and objectives of the School and University. Reports to Associate Director, Graduate & Undergraduate Law Programs.

Promotes programs among prospective student populations, individuals, and organizations through outreach programs and initiatives (both domestic and international), with the goal of enhancing student admission, enrollment, and retention. Conducts student recruitment initiatives, targeted outreach activities, and manages community partnerships and relationships, etc. Oversees coordination activities for marketing and communications related to programs and serves as the point person for community educational outreach efforts. Collaborates with School marketing staff and ensure efficiency and effectiveness, compliance with policies and procedures, and alignment with targeted goals and objectives of the division, School, and University.

Represent and serve as an informational resource for the Law School on a variety of inquiries pertaining to admission and requirements, program information, graduate outcomes.

Provides program outreach specific to Law Start program (3+3) including marketing and recruitment efforts. Establishes and maintains relationships and MOUs with partnering school districts. Collaborate with admissions in the development and management of Prelaw programs which provides mentorships and legal events such as lunch with lawyers, court observations, LSAT preparation and Law Ready programming.

Plans, develops, and leads implementation of community and partnership outreach events and program information sessions. Communicates with interested parties about program options, application and enrollment procedures, scholarship opportunities, student learning resources and activities, and recognition events. Conduct, coordinate, and track outreach events and communications for various groups of students and potential students (e.g., applicants, those who attend interest sessions for programs, stop-outs). Provide updates and leads to program areas of prospective student interest.

Professionally represents the Law School both internally and externally. Provides high-caliber, professional customer service to faculty, staff, students, guests, visitors, stakeholders, and business partners within and outside of the campus community (e.g., community college partners, donors, alumni, etc.). Build and maintain relationships and effective communications with individuals conducting business with and for the University.

Provides strategic analysis and input to leadership in effort to develop and achieve goals and objectives for recruitment, enrollment, and retention in the Division. Prepare regular and ad hoc reports and presentations on admissions, enrollment, and retention statuses in conjunction with outreach activities. Provides updates and leads to leadership regarding prospective student interest, current and prospective student target audiences, etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's degree

Bachelor's degree in either education, communication, public relations, marketing, business administration, public administration, or related field. Equivalent combination of education plus experience in higher education also acceptable.

Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)

Minimum 3-5 years experience in higher education in relevant areas; enrollment services, academic advising, curricular planning, student affairs or related experience. Experience conducting program/community outreach project and initiatives.

Demonstrated skill in professional presentations, public speaking, or public relations.

Experience with mentoring and establishing rapport with students of all ethnic backgrounds.

Demonstrated project management experience is preferred.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS: Demonstrate strong telephone techniques and etiquette; exhibits an engaging, forthcoming demeanor to customers. respond promptly and courteously to customer requests for service and assistance; follow-up to ensure customer needs are met; manage difficult or emotional customer situations; foster high-caliber customer service among other faculty and staff.

MULTICULTURAL SKILLS: Possess awareness of multicultural issues.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: use Microsoft office products with high level of proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook – email, calendar, contacts); use desktop publishing software to create electronic and hard copy promotional materials; experience with Banner/STARS (preferred).
