HNTB Detroit Location Leader in Detroit, Michigan

What We're Looking For

Serve as the principal firm representative at the Detroit location. Responsible for overall administration of office including business development, technical delivery, client relationships, and personnel so as to operate within the established goals and budgets for the office.

HNTB is looking for a strong industry leader to serve as the location lead for our Detroit, Michigan Office.

The selected candidate will serve on the Michigan Office Leadership Team, and will be the firm's primary contact in the Detroit market for external entities including clients, stakeholders and other industry partners. This individual will also provide internal on-site leadership for teammates in need of guidance, coaching and direction. The selected candidate will:

  • Serve as the firm's primary point of contact in the Detroit market

  • Build and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective clients

  • Build relationships with external organizations in the community including project stakeholders and industry partners.

  • Coordinate strategy and initiatives in the market, including coordinating best practices across multiple client service teams in the Detroit market

  • Provide quality oversight on select projects in the market as to validate and verify client satisfaction and HNTB standard adherence

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Michigan Office strategic plan, as well as the office operating budget.

The individual in this role may also serve as the project manager or project principal on strategic projects critical for the growth of the firm in the Detroit market.

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • PE/AICP

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages assigned project management activities (client audits, project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.

  • Responsible for day-to-day management including building, facilities, personnel/staffing projections, office services and production schedules.

  • Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.

  • Establishes priorities and work schedules and coordinates resource needs/assignments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Planning or other closely relevant degree

  • 16 years relevant experience

  • 4 years supervisory experience
