Henry Ford Health System Assistant or Associate Professor in Health Services Research - Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences in Detroit, Michigan
Position Summary :
We seek candidates passionate about research aimed at reducing disparities in the cancer care continuum with expertise in the supportive or psychological or social aspects of cancer care and one or more of the following areas: patient-reported outcomes, implementation science and/or cancer survivorship. In this new position, the successful population health researcher will have the opportunity to pursue their independent research goals as well as collaborate with other researchers and clinicians providing evidence-based care. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
The successful candidate will have access to data from a large, stable, and diverse patient population; an advanced electronic health record; and a robust tissue biorepository. This position will include a dual academic appointment at Henry Ford Health and Michigan State University and include opportunities to mentor graduate students and teach graduate level courses, if desired. The position will be in Detroit, Michigan at the Henry Ford Health campus.
Position Responsibilities/Expectations :
· Obtain NIH or other commensurate external research funding
· Publish papers in peer-reviewed journals as first/senior author and develop regional, national and international recognition through presentation of work.
· Participate in academic activities internally as an active member of the Henry Ford + MSU (e.g., committee service, mentoring, teaching) and externally in the scientific community (e.g., NIH study sections, editorial boards).
· Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Position Qualifications :
· PhD and/or MD/DO or equivalent required.
· Graduate level training in health services research and/or other public health-related discipline.
· Demonstrated successful completion of a post-doctoral fellowship and/or academic credentials commensurate with an assistant or associate professor at Henry Ford Health.
· Evidence of scholarly activity (publication of papers in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at scientific meetings).
· Strong writing skills and potential to be an independent and externally funded investigator.
· History of external research funding desired but not required.
· For clinician candidates, certification by eligibility for a specialty board of American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
