*Job Title: *Assistant Consultant, Civil Engineer

Location: 500 Griswold Street, Suite 2600, Detroit, MI 48226

Duties: Model sidewalk design in OpenRoads Designer to ensure equitable, ADA-standard design. Prepare road redesign plans and cost estimates for client infrastructure planning. Quality check pavement marking and highway alignment plans based on MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) and City of Detroit standards. Document utility conflicts on MDOT highway project to ensure minimal design issues. Prepare typical cross-section plan sheets of roadway projects according to MDOT standards. Redesign road segments to improve safety based on current engineering design standards (MDOT, etc.). Create road alignments and geometrics on OpenRoads Designer. Collaborate with Civil Roadway team to produce highway reconstruction plan sets in accordance with current engineering design standards (MDOT, etc.). Support senior staff with client relations, client and in-house technical presentations. Apply knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics. Coordinates the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and assists in report writing. Perform other duties as requested.

*Requirements: *Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related + 1 year of experience as Civil Engineer, Traffic Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Assemble removal, construction, and soil erosion plan sheets on AutoCAD Civil3D. Estimate cost of state DOT pay items to create an engineer's estimate for a project. Draft contract documents to ensure construction best practices, prevalent engineering specifications, and client's best interest. Review site, grading, and utility plans on behalf of municipal clients and provide approval or feedback to improve design based on state DOT and municipal engineering standards.
