R&D Manager, New Materials

Join UOP Research as a manager of the New Materials discovery team. This leader will direct a staff comprising of scientists responsible for inventing, synthesizing, and designing novel new materials for the adsorbent and catalyst business portfolio. The leader will embody the Honeywell Innovate and Create Value behavior to grow the UOP materials portfolio through next generation catalyst and adsorbent materials, value engineering programs, and pursuit of adjacent platforms to drive organic growth. You and your team will be responsible for working closely with other teams including catalysis applications, exploratory research, manufacturing scale up teams, and project development technology center managers to understand customer pain points, business needs, and emerging market opportunities to develop a prioritized New Materials discovery portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the New Materials discovery portfolio and deliver novel, differentiated materials to enable the business
Leadership, talent, and career development management; building a results-driven, diverse, and inclusive team
Lead the UOP research patent committee and be a zealot for innovation and patent strategy.
Prepare the new materials annual operating plan including, discovery and capability projects, capital plan, and champion outside innovation strategies where they augment UOP capability.
Track budget and milestone Do/Say, KPIs, and productivity improvements
Project coordination and resource management
YOU MUST HAVE
Masters Degree in Material Science or Chemistry with at least 7 years post-graduate experience
At least 2 years as major contributor to or leader of experiment-focused R&D projects
Expertise in synthetic chemistry and materials characterization
Experience with novel materials patentability
WE VALUE
Ph.D. in Material Science or Chemistry
Experience leading R&D project teams
Familiarity with metal oxides and other 3 dimensional structural archetypes
Experience with safe chemical laboratory operations
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others
History of delivering results in technically complex problems and projects
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Reliable and trustworthy with highest ethical standards
Flexible to work across cultures and time zones
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual base salary range for this position is <$160- $204>. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
