Job Description

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is hiring aTraining Specialist 1 to join our Performance & Development Solutions team in Human Resources. This position will help support the training and development needs for employees across the state.

If you’re interested, we’re looking for an individual who is looking for an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of training and professional development activities.

Success in this position will require organization, adaptability and creativity. Prior experience in the areas of instructional design and interaction with learning management systems is a plus.

A successful individual will:

  • Be team-oriented and focused on the destination but flexible on the path

  • Be curious and seek to understand and use that skill to help troubleshoot issues

  • Be service-oriented and adaptable to help us deliver training courses and related content

  • Be collaborative: work with team members to review and improve learning and development solutions to meet the changing needs of our learners

Essential Functions / General duties include:

  • Manage and assist with training and e-learning development solutions

  • Provide operational support to enable training to deliver on learner and user needs

  • Develop a solid understanding of our Learning Management System to be able to support agency Learning Admins with their training goals

  • Perform and help to drive special projects and training improvements as assigned.

  • Leverage prior training experience to maximize application and retention of content that will support the goals of the organization

Most DAS-HRE team members are currently working in a hybrid environment; identifying three days a work to work collaboratively in person and two days a week remote as schedules allow.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university;

OR

a combination of education and experience to total four years, substituting experience equal to one year of full-time work in the following areas for each thirty semester hours of qualifying coursework:

  • Professional training, teaching, course development, facilitation or counseling experience in an educational setting;

  • Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal, selection devices or labor relations;

  • Professional experience in a technical program area utilized by the employing agency;

OR

employees with current, continuous experience in the state executive branch equal to three years of full-time qualifying work.
