Oracle Software Development Snr Manager in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

As a Senior Manager of Software Development in the Load-Balancer Data-Plane organization, you will build and lead critical load balancer service. The charter of the organization is to provide load balancer service for critical OCI services and support the scale and high-availability required for these OCI services. You will build a team which brings together low-level systems knowledge and data plane expertise and work with our most senior technical leaders to define, design and develop solutions to some of the most complex problems. We are looking for a M3 manager that has data plane systems design distributed systems knowledge.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

  • Lead and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.

  • Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.

  • Setting the technical direction for a foundational data-plane component used across OCI.

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing best talent.

  • Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the team

  • Defining new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.

  • Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of management experience in enterprise software

  • 7+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services/ systems design

  • Proficient at programming in C/C++ (preferred) and Java

  • Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of management experience

  • Prior development experience within Cloud Infrastructure or low level systems engineering

  • Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
