Oracle Senior Site Reliability Engineer in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

We are looking for Site Reliability Engineer with strong automation experience who can partner with RGIU Cloud engineering teams for successful completion of environment maintenance and with product development team and infrastructure support teams for successful delivery of automation for various maintenance activities. As a member of the software engineering automation division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing automation and applications for tasks associated with the deployment, maintenance, monitoring of SaaS solutions.

Work is non-routine and very sophisticated, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Design, develop, fix and debug automation for environment and application deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day operations and general engineering efforts for scalability, availability, and security

  • Build automation using industry tools to provide solution and services.

  • Solve complex and difficult problems and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.

  • Drive projects/technical initiatives and service improvements.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex Infrastructure and DevOps challenges.

  • Participate in incident management, operational/security maintenance, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

  • Deeper understanding of technology and standards, actively keep abreast of trends and standards, recommend best practices and share learning.

  • Create and deliver the best practices recommendations, sample code, and technical documents.

  • Should be familiar with Agile methodology and contribute to a Continuous Integration /Continuous Deployment environment.

  • Should have strong interpersonal skills to be able to make great business relationships with people from various LOBs.

  • Need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills for global audience.

  • Should possess proven history of working in a virtual team spread across continents

  • Flexible to work in rotational shifts including weekends and ready to accept On-call responsibility for Weekends/Public holidays

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Chef/Puppet or an equivalent

  • Proficient in Virtualization & Containers (Setup & Administration.)- Docker & Kubernetes

  • Proficient in Programming languages : Ruby/Python and shell scripting

  • Knowledge around Fusion middleware components & Oracle Database

  • Intermediate Linux Administration

  • Familiarity with Cloud concepts and Cloud Native Platform

  • Cloud Engineering Infrastructure development

US: Hiring Range: from $31.97 to $67.93 per hour; from $66,500 to $141,300 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
