Forklift Operator

$19.00/hour

This position will initially start in a general labor role working in the shred and de-boxing areas but will eventually move into a forklift position. During the first few weeks, you will assist with breaking down boxes, cleaning up production floors, and operating the shredder equipment to shred scrap material. Eventually, you will move into a lift truck operator position, operating a sit-down forklift and assisting with moving large bales of recycled paper products to docks and areas to be shipped or stored. Forklifts consist of clamps that pick up the bales to transport.

Job Description:

• This position will initially start in a general labor role working in the shred and de-boxing areas but will eventually move into a forklift position.

• International Paper is a paper and cardboard distributor - 75% of their product is cardboard.

• During their first few weeks - will assist with breaking down boxes, cleaning up production floors, and operating the shredder equipment to shred scrap material.

• Will move into a lift truck operator position - will operate a sit-down forklift and assist with moving large bales of recycled paper products to docks and areas to be shipped or stored. Bales weigh several hundred pounds. Forklifts consist of clamps that pick up the bales to transport.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

• Sit down forklift experience - 1+ years

• Comfortable lifting 50+ lbs

Work Environment/Shift:

• 2nd shift: Monday thru Friday - NOON - 8:30pm - with overtime on Saturdays and Sundays when they get busy in the Spring.

• Old warehouse/production environment, It gets hot in the summers and cold in the winters.

• The work environment is basically the same temperature as it is outside. Forklifts are heated and cooled but production areas are NOT temperature controlled.

• This warehouse is also dirty and dusty due to the materials they distribute. Hard Hats are required to be worn at all times on the production floor. If you have long hair, you will be required to keep your hair tied up under the hard hat or tucked into your shirt at all times.
