Aerotek Maintenance Mechanic in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Title: Mechanic

Job Description

Install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment. Perform general mechanical functions and repairs on plant equipment, vehicles, buildings, facilities, or instruments. Perform skills such as welding, basic fabrication, pipefitting, HVAC, electronic scale repair, pump repair, pump seal rebuild, and basic line equipment repair and rebuilding. Utilize a PM or work order system to track all issues and ensure clear communication with the Maintenance Supervisor. Install new machinery and equipment. Complete general repairs such as painting, patching walls, and security hardware installation. Maintain inventory of assigned tools and related supplies. Maintain tools and machinery in good condition, report recurring equipment malfunctions, and ensure a clean work environment. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Des Moines, Iowa.

Work Environment

Shift: Monday - Friday 6 AM - 3:30 PM or 7 AM - 4:30 PM. The team typically works about 45 hours per week with occasional Saturdays if needed. The plant operates 24/6, but maintenance does not. At full capacity, the team consists of about 10 people. Mechanics focus on preventative work, while technicians handle project work. The team values a fun and joking atmosphere. The work environment involves potential exposure to hazardous chemicals with full protective suits provided when necessary. Uniforms, steel-toed boots, and eyewear are supplied and laundered nightly.
