Job Description

The Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) seeks an Education Program Manager to develop and manage a comprehensive, innovative and multifaceted education program for various internal and external audiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering solutions and outcomes to improve the performance of IPERS employees, ensure that IPERS members are knowledgeable about their retirement benefit, and ensure that IPERS employers are knowledgeable about the laws that govern IPERS. Initially and ongoing, they will assess the educational needs of all audiences, will identify learning opportunities and creative and effective delivery methods, and will design content/curriculum to achieve established goals.

As a member of IPERS’ Strategy Division, they will collaborate with peers to present education, market the program and evaluate its success. When appropriate, they will recommend partnerships with contractors to present and deliver education and will manage associated requests for proposals, contracts and budgets.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and experience equal to three years full-time work in one or a combination of the following areas:

  • Professional training, teaching or counseling experience in an educational setting;

  • Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal system, selection devices or labor relations;

  • Professional experience in a major technical program area utilized by the employing agency;

OR

a combination of education and experience to total seven years, substituting experience equal to one year of full-time qualifying work for each thirty semester hours of qualifying coursework;

OR

a combination of education and experience to total seven years, substituting thirty semester hours of graduate coursework for each year of qualifying experience;

OR

employees withcurrent, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to twelve months of full time work as a Training Specialist 1;

OR

employees withcurrent, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six years' full-time qualifying work.
