PCB Piezotronics, Inc. Machinist III (1st shift) in Depew, New York


Education/Training: High School graduate or equivalent; BOCES Machine Shop or equivalent skilled trades school. Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry, advanced shop math and Advanced blue print reading skills.

Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of machine shop experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, focus adjustment and regular use of a microscope.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other: Own tools required: Machinist I tools, depth micrometers and other t ools necessary to perform jobs.

Basic Function: Follow all PCB procedures and forms in compliance to ISO 9001.

Works from drawings and/or written instructions, sets up and operates a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Promotes teamwork, cooperation and commitment to “Total Customer Satisfaction” among team members.

  • Assigned to one of the following functions and may perform specific duties as outlined below.

    a. Automatics

    • Changes bar stock.

    • Understands tooling controls and dimensions.

    • Understands advanced CNC programming language and identifies and corrects programming errors.

    b. EDM

    • Sets up material and fixtures in staging area

    • Adjusts cutting conditions as needed

    • Understands positioning relative to part dimension and make off set changes when required.

    • Performs programming at the machine and Identifies programming errors

    c. Fabrication

    • Order material and hardware and control inventory of such.

    • Calculates bend allowances when required.

    d. Tool Room

    • Operates manual machines through all functions.

    e. Molding Room

    • Operates machine through all functions.
    1. At an advanced reads and interprets blueprints.

    2. Uses measuring instruments to inspect parts and may follow Q.C. sampling plan depending on function.

    3. Regularly uses a microscope to view and inspect parts.

    4. Makes tool offsets.

    5. Completes all required paperwork and makes data collection transactions as needed.

    6. Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.

    7. Will make every effort towards meeting or exceeding production requirements for job.

    8. Identifies all common problems and makes changes to correct.

    9. Identifies dull or worn inserts or tools and changes as necessary.

    10. Understands order of operations.

    11. Cycles and jogs machine through all functions.

    12. Completes machinist level preventative maintenance as required.

  1. Achieves top-level quality.

    1. Maintains neat and orderly work areas (5S).
  2. Demonstrates leadership in area by leading by example in the effort to achieve TCS

  3. Ability to operate two or more work centers with advanced set up skills.

  4. May be involved in LEAN events.

  5. Shows advanced inspection skills

    1. Performs advanced troubleshooting.

    2. Makes recommendations for process improvements.

    3. Sets example as a team member for less experienced employees by cooperating and showing commitment to customer service.

    4. Shows the ability to support training initiatives for lower level machinists.

    5. Sets up at an advanced level jobs without assistance.

  6. May assist Team Leader in leading others in the completion of tasks.

  7. May have the responsibility of filling in for Team Leader if necessary.

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
