Welder Fitter/Fabricator Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Position, align, fit, weld parts to form complete units or subunits, follow blueprints and layout specifications, using fixtures, welding torches and hand tools.

  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.

  • Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met.

  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers.

  • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.

  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.

  • Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists or cranes.

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

  • Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.

  • Examine work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.

  • Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.

Welder Fitter/Fabricator Requirements:

  • Follow necessary MGS and customer-specific procedures and work instructions.

  • Read complex paperwork/drawings or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials and process for fabrication.

  • Execute tasks and responsibilities as required by the Quality System.

  • Follow safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.

  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

 QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.   • 3+ years MIG welding experience in a Shop environment.

  • Experience welding various types and gauges of materials to tight tolerances while minimizing distortion.

Language Skills - The work requires you to be able to follow verbal instructions as well as read and understand production documentation that details what needs to be completed on each part, the information is in English, so reading, understanding, and writing in English is a requirement in order to complete the tasks at hand.
