Aerotek Horizontal Boring Mill Operator in Denver, Pennsylvania

Machining company in Denver, PA is looking for a Horizontal Boring Mill Operator. Multi-generation family owned company with a great culture. Four day work week with optional overtime available on Fridays!

Horizontal Boring Mill Operator

1st shift: 6am -4:30pm, Mon - Thurs

Pay Range: $22-27/hr

Job Summary:

The Horizontal Boring Mill Operator must be able to set-up and run all of the company Horizontal Boring Mill machines. Work under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor or Department Lead Person. They must also be able to read blue prints and understand how to machine parts to specifications. They must have a thorough knowledge of the tools required to perform various operations, such as face milling, end milling, threading, drilling, boring, tapping, gun drilling and trepanning. Ability to trouble shoot all aspects of machining to solve problems with tooling, setups, speeds and feeds to machine parts using a drawing and the machine controls. An advanced knowledge of shop math, and machining is necessary.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand how to operate the machine controls and adjust machining to maintain proper size parts.

  • Ability to read and understand blue prints.

  • Knowledge of tools for various operations and various work holding methods.

  • Knowledge of cutting speeds, feed rates and depth of cuts.

  • Properly install cutters and proper placement of guards.

  • Use dial indicators and other tools to properly setup boring mill operations.

  • Adjust machine to properly machine parts to precise sizes and shapes as required.

  • Gauging the parts using micrometers, vernier calipers, indicators and other measuring equipment.

  • Ability to conduct various inspection procedures (first piece inspection, etc.).

  • Daily start up procedure for the machine.

  • Moving materials to and from machine when necessary.
