Product + Color Designer, Lifestyle Equipment (Global)

What you will do:

The Product + Color Designer will play a crucial role in creating best in class bags, luggage, and carry solutions for the Lifestyle Design Team. You will have a deep understanding of the brand and ensure that it is embodied in your work. You will research industry trends to help inform seasonal design. This role will partner with materials to develop innovative fabrications and trims to elevate product. You support the team by contributing to the creation of visual presentations. You will present your work by telling compelling stories to leadership and cross-functional partners for buy in. This position supports development and applies new directional, brand relevant color solutions that address the needs of our global market at multiple customer touch points, specific to Lifestyle Equipment. As a member of the Equipment design team, this role will collaborate closely with the color design team and Lifestyle Design Manager on the seasonal color POV for Lifestyle collections for Men’s, Women’s and Youth.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Own the design and development of product concepts, design, and execution as specified by the Manager to fulfill the brief provided by the Product Management team.

  • Collaborate with Design team to help build and maintain franchises that speak to The North Face DNA and fulfill the consumer needs.

  • Research industry standards and consumer needs then be able to apply through innovative design.

  • Create technical specification documents and update as required for all styles determined.

  • Work closely with Development to communicate designs, materials, construction, and any necessary changes that occur throughout the development process.

  • Work closely with Product Management partners to ensure all designs support the brief, regional business needs and consumer asks.

  • Collaborate with Creative Direction Team to implement color, print, and graphic into the line for the season.

  • Create seasonal color palettes through market analysis, trend research and brand DNA. Work in conjunction with both the Equipment and Creative Direction teams on new seasonal concepts and storytelling.

  • Build effective presentation materials that communicate color direction related to the brand’s objective.

  • Maintain calendar deadlines and deliverables that result in a timely completion of seasonal product lines.

  • Apply color on 2D or 3D CAD drawings to visualize colored-up product to ensure coordination of merchandisable collections.

  • Work closely with global teams on brand color alignment. Evaluate and adopt regional colors as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining accuracy of global color palette, managing color tools and communication of color standards throughout the organization and global teams.

What You Will Bring:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 4+ years of related professional experience in product design. Experience in a design environment working with colors, palette development and/or color trends.

  • Solid awareness of outdoor, lifestyle, and streetwear trends and the and the ability to interpret these trends though the TNF lens.

  • Knowledge of the product design and development process. Strong product acumen with working knowledge of development processes, including design, development, sourcing and manufacturing.

  • High proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and PowerPoint in a Mac environment.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools is considered a plus and should be highlighted in application process.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to new ways of working.

  • Possess effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Fluent in English, any other language is a plus.

Hiring Range :

$73,440.00 USD - $91,800.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
