Summary:

Facebook News was built to bring people closer to the stories that impact their lives and the community around them. Our aim is to build on our efforts to sustain great national and local journalism and create more value for publishers. FB News is available in the US and the UK and will soon be expanding to other markets. High quality News is brought via our community and key partnerships across the world. In addition to News, FB brings authoritative information via specific destinations like the Climate Sciences Information Center, Coronavirus Information Center, Lift Black Voices and the Voter Information Center to people all over the world.News plays a significant role enabling community and conversations across Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. The News team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive the impact of our News investments across our family of products. This person will work on new products related to improving the quality and diversity of News on Facebook.

Required Skills:

  1. Partner with Engineering and Product Managers to bring new products and capabilities to market in traditional and new News areas.

  2. Create alignment between goals and teams by working with Product and Engineering and own specific scope areas end to end.

  3. Help define components of architecture and platforms that help realize long term value and goals.

  4. Enable multiple teams to collaborate effectively via processes and culture.

  5. Operate in a matrix organization and manage cross-functional product development.

  6. Represent progress to stakeholders, while ideating improvements and methods to refine operations.

  7. Define and drive success metrics and key performance indicators along with cross-functional partners.

  8. Interface between different cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Research, Design and Data Sciences.

  9. Assess business impact, prioritize initiatives and quickly react to a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

  2. 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience

  3. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products

  4. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience

  5. Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

  6. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in digital News - systems, partnerships, business models

  2. Experience with metric development for online engagement

  3. Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery

  4. Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope

  5. Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership
