RES Project Engineering Lead in Denver, Colorado

Summary:

The Project Engineering Lead is primarily responsible for managing a team of Project Engineers that support the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business line, providing technical, design coordination, and project procurement support for various T&D projects throughout the Americas.

Requirements :

  • Reviews designs provided by the Engineer of Record for compliance with technical specifications/requirements.

  • Seeks opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in design.

  • Identifies and quantifies potential risks, contract clarifications, and exclusions.

  • Provides excellence in managing and delivering the project’s technical deliverables in line with the client’s expectations.

  • Scopes, schedules, and coordinates the engineering and design activities for:

  • Early-stage development projects

  • Major bid/RFP opportunities

  • EPC construction projects

  • Supports preparation of the project budget and schedule before the commencement of the project.

  • Manages Project Engineers on assigned projects (EPC, bid-build, development, significant bids).

  • Ensures assigned Project Engineers meet expectations set by the team and business line.

  • Liaises with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, and vendors to capture lessons learned for circulation as continuous improvement to the PE team.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates handovers to project teams when projects are won or transition from late-stage development to the Design engineering/construction phase.

  • Setups and coordinates technical design review meetings.

  • Setups and coordinates Safety Thru Design review meetings.

  • Schedules and supports organizing site visits for Engineering.

  • Provides coordination of all engineering disciplines for the efficient and safe performance of the construction work.

  • Understands all obligations under the project contract and the need to document variances.

  • Coordinates and manages the preparation, baselining, and updating of engineering, subcontractor, and vendor schedules to align with and support the project schedule.

  • Works with the corporate Scheduler to establish the baseline project schedule and then update that schedule to record actual progress.

  • Aligns individual and team objectives to department and company objectives.

  • Manages and supports employee development, learning, and growth.

  • Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress to direct reports.

  • Implements feedback and generates ideas for improving PE team tools, processes, procedures, and coordination.

  • Follows communication plan procedures as defined by the project manager and project requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Project Scheduling Tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)

  • Substation/Transmission Line/Medium Voltage Collection design for renewable energy projects

  • General Design for Constructability

  • Technical project management

  • Familiarity with Industry Standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction Management or Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering required.

  • 3+ years or more in cumulative engineering experience with relevant High Voltage Transmission & Distribution experience required.

  • Domestic Travel 5-15%, Valid Driver’s License not required.

Anticipated base salary range: $92,000 - $108,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
