Xcel Energy Project Engineering Intern in Denver, Colorado

Project Description

  • Work with the engineering and project management staff to support capital project work for existing power generation facilities in the Colorado region to support on-going operations.

  • Will perform entry level engineering analysis doing tasks supporting both project management and construction.

  • Tasks include submittal coordination, drawing support, construction planning and oversight, schedule review, quality control support, safety observations, and vendor outreach and coordination, with some exposure to budgeting.

  • Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidate will gain significant professional and technical skills to qualify for a future Project Engineer role.

  • This role requires being at 1800 Larimer or nearby Xcel Energy generating facilities three (3) days a week during the summer timeframe.

This will be a co-op opportunity working part-time during the school year (start date of January 2025) and full-time during the summer (May thru August). We will consider summer only opportunities . This internship has the potential to extend thru additional semesters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.

  • Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally.

  • Must be self-motivated, have good technical skills, and ability to work well with others.

  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $22.50 to $30.10 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
