Pharmacy Technician- Central Fill Pharmacy (Job ID: 4793)Job SummaryUnder general supervision, performs pharmacy-related functions in the otherdrug outlet (ODO) sites to assist with providing optimal pharmaceuticalservices. Prepares medications, maintains pharmacy inventory, andrestocks as necessary. Assists with alternate pick-up sites for medicationsdispensed from Central Fill Pharmacy. Assists with medication requests fromproviders and patients as allowable by pharmacy rules and regulations andunder the overall general supervision of a pharmacist or provider. Travel tovarious CHS clinic sites as necessary.Responsibilities*Interacts with appropriate clinical staff and patients to identify, clarifyand fill orders for pharmaceutical needs, under the supervision of the CHSConsultant Pharmacist and Clinic Administrator.oFills patient medications ordered by providers using meds stocked in onsitedispensaries.oFills out paperwork needed to track usage, outdated goods, billing, andshortages.oMaintains dispensary logs, ensuring all medications removed are accountedfor and associated with the appropriate patient chart.oCoordinates insurance billing including third party prescriptions whenapplicable.oHandles and triages telephone/in-person inquiries, answering pharmacyrelated questions from both patients and clinic staff.oAssists with charging and crediting dispensary medication returns.oAssists with the medication reconciliation process and spot reviewsinformation systems for proper charting.oExamines Central Fill pharmacy dispensed medications for upcomingreturn-to-stock dates, contacts patients to inform them of the impendingreturn and pulls medications for return to Central Fill that remain after thedesignated return date.*Restocks and delivers drugs and related supplies to CHS clinicdispensaries, as assigned.oPrepares inventories, orders drugs and supplies, receives drugs andstocks shelves in CHS clinic dispensaries.oLogs drug receipts appropriately for clinical staff and audits CHS dispensarylogs for completeness and accuracy.oMaintains stock in accordance with manufacturers' requirements andsegregates stock according to originating grant or payer.oAdheres to eligibility and documentation requirements of the Title X grantand of the Denver Health Family Planning (DHFP) program.oAssists with inventory maintenance and control, checking for nearly expireddrugs, rotating stock, and returning defective products and medications tomanufacturers for optimal credit.*Maintains established departmental policies and procedures; qualityimprovement, environmental and infection control standards, and adheres toregulatory requirements.oComplies with established departmental and DHHA policies and procedures,quality improvement, infection control, and safety initiatives.oMaintains secure storage and records of all medications.oMaintains medications in accordance with manufacturer's requirements andgrant rules.oComplies and assists with adherence to regulatory requirements (StateBoard, Joint Commission, CMS etc.)*Enhances personal and coworkers' professional growth and developmentoCompletes and meets the competency standards including education and trainingthat is specific to the patient populations and practice site served. Keepsjob knowledge current.oIs an educational resource for clinical and clerical staff in the CHSclinics.oIs a resource for clinic staff and patients presenting in clinics for pick upof medications provided by Denver Health Central Fill Pharmacy.oAttends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services,huddles, and departmental trainings as applicable, along with clinic huddles.oMaintains continuing education requirements for certification.oPromotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellowemployees, physicians, patients and visitors.
