Intermountain Health Patient Financial Advocate in Denver, Colorado

Job Description:

Provides financial counseling to uninsured/underinsured patients by screening for potential Medicaid eligibility, assisting with the application process through determination, providing education regarding the Affordable Care Act and assisting with navigation through the marketplace, arranging payment plans, generating price quotes and providing Intermountain Health Financial Assistance Applications.

This position is scheduled Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Bilingual-English/Spanish is required for this position.

Job Details

  • Meets with patients and screens for potential Medicaid/State Public Benefit eligibility according to state based guidelines. Completes and submits appropriate applications to Department of Human Services or MA Site as applicable. Follows up through determination.

  • Educatespatientsabout the Affordable Care Act, including potential eligibility during both open enrollment and in the situation of a life qualifying events. Explains qualified health plans,essentialhealth benefits, differences in plan affordability, premium tax credits, and cost sharing. Assists individuals navigating through the web based State or Federal Marketplace.

  • Meets with patients to review and process financial assistance applications. Ensures completeness,verifiessupportingdocumentation,runscredit reports and determines eligibility.

  • Provides procedure Price Quotes to patients. Assists uninsured expectant mothers who are ineligible for public benefits to sign up for Intermountain Health’s Uninsured Maternity Program. AssistspatientswithPrescriptionReimbursement programs.

  • Providespatientswith an Explanation of Benefits and answers questions related to coverage and billing. Completes Point of Service Collections of co-pays, deductibles, and deposits. Arranges payment plans and processes contract payments in Wells Fargo system and Epic.

  • Promotesmission,vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required

  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions

  • Bilingual - Spanish is required.

  • Demonstratesdiscretion in verbal and written communication with patients and Intermountain Health staff ensuring patient confidentiality at all times

  • Ability to read, understand and apply personal tax return information and profit/loss statements.

  • Proficientcomputerskillsincluding experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellentcustomerserviceskills, both written and verbal. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients and their families, physicians, nursing personnel and co- workers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Understanding of State and Federal Programs available

  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, SSDI, and SSI qualification

  • Knowledgeandunderstanding of the 501r Regulation, and Intermountain's Financial Assistance Policy

  • Remains current with the Connect for Health Colorado programs and maintains certification.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.

  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

  • See and read computer monitors and documents.

  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
