About the team

Our Product and Technology teams are the Worldpayers behind the game-changing products and digital experiences we're best known for. Striving for better, they never stand still - delivering impactful innovations that power transactions across the world.

Our Observability Practice is an SRE team that lives and breathes operational excellence, working across our global technology department ensuring we achieve an awesome customer experience. We work across our platform team ensuring we aligned on reducing incidents, increasing platform resilience, scalability and maturing our practices.

The Ideal candidate will have telemetry experience and know the core concepts of SRE work (SLA, SLO etc). Core platform is AWS & Java or Python.

What you'll own

Guiding product delivery teams on how to achieve operational excellence for new product deliveries.

Single pain of glass for Business Ops, IT Ops and Engineering across your customer journey

Requirements for E2E Observability across your customer journey

The E2E solutions for our Internal and External facing Observability

Contributing to observability Instrumentation standards and creating repeatable patterns and libraries for our engineering teams for

E2E Capacity planning for specific user journey

Creating a matrix team that support best practice and training of our support and business operational teams to enable self-service of dashboards and alerts.

Where you'll own it

The Observability team is split across the UK and US and will work day-to-day with teams spread across EMEA, APAC, LATAM and Nort America.

What you bring

An Operational mindset and a drive to achieve operational excellence

Experience of owning an E2E customer journey in a complex multinational organization driving consistency and customer centric mindset within engineering teams.

Experience of Open Telemetry, ideally contributor to the Open-Source Project

Experience with AWS and Java - coding experience beyond simple scripts

Ability to work collaboratively across many teams influencing decisions and setting standards

Experienced in achieving platform level and E2E SLI, SLOs and SLAs and creating accountability in meeting them.

Ability to perform E2E capacity planning and ensure an architecture is in place to support fluctuating volume levels

Understanding of batch reconciliation

Understanding of how to implement solutions to reduce Mtti/Mttr

Experience of Disaster Recovery and redundancy in cloud and on prem

Experience leading cross platform performance optimization and tuning

Ability to look through the complexity and lead PIRs to a successful outcome
