This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to perform mechanical design of cryogenic pump motors. These pumps will be an integral component on our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. Work will include the complete life cycle of the drives from requirements definition, analysis, design, development, assembly, verification, and operation on the moon!

You will lead mechanical design of motors in partnership with an electromagnetic design team. A successful candidate will have professional experience generating CAD models, creating drawings, and performing structural analysis of new motor designs.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Qualifications:

B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area

5+ years of experience in kW class motor mechanical design using software such as Creo or Siemens NX

Professional experience performing finite element analysis of static and rotating motor structures in software such as ANSYS

Professional experience applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5
