Role at a Glance

We are excited to expand our Claims Leadership team in a variety of leadership roles across our Group Protection Claims organization. Our Claims Organization has the opportunity to work from home while administering employee group benefits to our customers and being there when they need us most.

Background Details

As a Leader within the Claims Organization, you will manage a team to oversee and ensure the fair, ethical and timely management of leaves, short-term disability and/or long-term disability claims. You will provide leadership, coaching and process management to ensure a positive experience for our customers, employees, and key stakeholders. You will also drive process improvements to deliver quality results, increase customer satisfaction, and enhance the Lincoln brand.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage a remote Claims team and processes while ensuring workloads remain balanced.

  • Approve and make more complex claim management related financial decisions consistent with company guidelines.

  • Identify and communicate claims trends and issues to management. Develop mitigation plans.

  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained while building organizational capability.

  • Manage and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within Claims.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the Claims organization.

  • Establish and implement individual and team priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure completion of responsibility.

  • Serve as a resource to team members and internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects.

What we're looking for

Must-haves

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Insurance

  • 5+ Years of experience in Group Claims

  • 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload

  • Strong communication, relationship building, strategic, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates ability to successfully hire, retain, develop, and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience

  • Change leadership experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Approves and makes more complex claim management related financial decisions consistent with company guidelines for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Builds organizational capability within their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery of more complex claims for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Collaborates with sales offices to ensure effective service delivery of claims for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Completes regular quality audits of assigned area(s) of responsibility claim/team members' work; records results and counsels staff to bring work to or above standards.

Develops and maintains close customer ties, articulates customer needs, keeps priorities in focus with the desires and expectations of the customer.

Ensures all assigned area(s) of responsibility claims, eligible or ineligible for payment, conform to quality, production standards and specifications.

Ensures claims processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures and department guidelines for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Establishes and implements individual and team priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure completion of responsibility for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Identifies and communicates claims trends and issues to management. Develops mitigation plans.

Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Identifies process inefficiencies and cost reductions. Develops and recommends mitigation plans.

Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.

Manages a team and processes for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Manages and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Manages and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Manages assigned area(s) of responsibility to ensure workloads are appropriately balanced among team members.

Manages the processing and administration of all aspects of more complex claims for their assigned area(s) of responsibility ensuring accurate and timely claim management.

Monitors and evaluates overall metrics for team productivity and takes appropriate action to meet or exceed standards.

Provides more complex technical guidance to claim team members on claims adjudication for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

Reviews and resolves more complex escalated issues and concerns for assigned area(s) of responsibilities.

Reviews regular quality audits of for assigned area(s) of responsibility claim team members work, analyzes results and counsels staff to bring work to or above standards.

Serves as a resource to team members and internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Additional Position Responsibilities
