Small Business Administration Financial Specialist in Denver, Colorado

Summary This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Performance Planning and CFO in Denver, CO. The incumbent studies the operating program and performs special projects by applying analytical and evaluation methods. Work is related to administrative accounting and fiscal examination functions. Responsibilities Applies knowledge of financial concepts and procedures to various systems; continually monitors financial data, procedures, and controls to preclude violation of regulations; works with staff to develop new or revised methods to improve accuracy and accountability. Assists in determining the need for account reviews based on regulatory requirements, trend analysis, and historical account activity, then implements procedures that provide adequate internal controls to prevent over reporting of disbursements and in transit balances. Reviews and troubleshoots financial procedures, policies, systems, interfacing processes and automation processes that impact financial reporting of information: research deficiencies in procedures and systems, and participates in resolving problems to ensure regulatory compliance, and accurate financial data, then relays that information to the next level peer or supervisor. Provides customer service to internal and external customers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-09: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: assisting internal customers with inquiries regarding the use and functionality of financial and administrative systems; assisting vendors with inquiries about account and payment status; researching and interpreting regulations and legislation; analyzing common trends that result in end user system errors; reviewing travel transaction monthly statements; and performing internal control reviews.
