Salary for Announcement

We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $72,200 - $98,500. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Executive Director for Student Life and Belonging is a visionary and strategic leader who provides oversight and direction for the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion (CMEI). The CMEI encompasses student leadership programs, student organizations (inclusive of student government, fraternities, and sororities), student engagement programs and activities, and student media programs. There is an intentional focus on equity and justice that is embedded in all of the Center's programming. The Executive Director is responsible for oversight and management of the Center, including for the personnel, budget, and programmatic evaluation/ assessment. The Executive Director operates as a change-agent providing leadership for diversity, equity, and identity-based programming, leadership education, and initiatives on campus that engage the University community and tri-institutional partners (University of Colorado-Denver and Community College of Denver).

In collaboration with key constituents, the Executive Director of Student Life and Belonging will advance the development and implementation of a strategic plan for equity, engagement, and inclusive student leadership and governance that is mission-driven and aligned with the University's overall strategic plan. This leader plays a key role in shaping the campus climate and culture into one that is recognized for demonstrating how racial equity translates into meaningful and transformational experiences and sense of belonging for all students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, the Executive Director will serve as an alternate and designee on committees, supervision, and support of staff in the Assistant Vice President's unit, as requested. The Executive Director of Student Life and Belonging reports to the Assistant Vice President for Equity and Student Engagement.

Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Advocacy - (25%) Promotes, supports, participates in, and leads equity and inclusion initiatives to positively impact enrollment, student retention, and graduation rates. Guided by goals/outcomes and student needs, establishes culturally conscious programming and services for supporting students who are historically underrepresented in higher education. Intentionally integrates such programs to be in alignment with other key University initiatives (e.g., Hispanic Serving Institution Initiative and Diversity Equity and Inclusion Executive Committee). Leads the visioning and ongoing development of the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion, Actively builds relationships with key internal and external individuals and groups, including but not limited to faculty, staff/administrators, shared governance groups, and relevant community organizations such as foundations and business organizations. Sets and facilitates the Center's ongoing anti-racist agenda and evaluates the efficacy of the strategies employed. Enhances cross-cultural understanding and competence at the University through development and implementation of policies, procedures, and co-curricular activities that are guided by the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, transparency, and shared governance. Responsible for ensuring that departmental practices and policies are regularly reviewed with attention to risk-management. In consultation with colleagues (i.e. Associate Vice President, General Counsel's Offic , etc.), review relevant guiding documents and related across the unit. Develops systemic and ongoing cocurricular partnerships with academic department leaders and heads that result in cross-divisional and cross-institutional student learning outcomes. Collaborates and builds partnerships with internal and external constituents and key stakeholders.

Supervision - (20%) Supervises professional staff. Develops and fills positions as the hiring authority, establishes performance goals, and provides timely and accurate performance feedback. Holds staff accountable for their respective roles in anti-racist work, as well as other key departmental and institutional initiatives. Provides performance management as needed.

Campus and Community Service - (20%) Serves as the primary advisor to Student Government: The Student Advocacy Council (TSAC).
