Amazon Data Architect, WWPS ProServe in Denver, Colorado

Description

Are you a Data Analytics specialist? Do you have Data Engineering, Data Warehousing and Data Lake experience? Do you want to help Public Sector Customers deploy mission-critical data and ML solutions at scale? Are you detail-oriented and creative? Do you like to collaborate with others to achieve goals? Then this is the position for you.

As a Data Architect, you will provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the global healthcare market for cloud data applications, while working with a world class sales and business development team. You will design and create data architectures and platforms to help healthcare organizations achieve their mission of better patient health. You will gain the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture.

This is a customer facing role. You may need to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen.

Key job responsibilities

  • Help clarify customer business outcomes during project discovery

  • Design and build data analytics applications to solve complex and ambiguous problems in the public sector healthcare and life sciences domain

  • Implement technical solutions that are secure, maintainable, scalable, reliable, performant, and cost-effective

  • Identify and prepare metrics and reports for the internal team and for customers to delineate the value of their solution to the customer

  • Identify, mitigate and communicate risks related to solution and service constraints by making technical trade-offs

  • Participate in growing their team’s skills and help mentor internal and customer team members

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field or equivalent professional or military experience

  • 3+ years of experience in designing, implementing large scale Data Lake and Data Warehouse in the cloud

  • Experience in using one or more query languages (e.g. SQL, HiveQL, SPARQL), schema definition languages (e.g. DDL, SDL, XSD, RDF), and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Scala) to build a data solution

  • Understanding of distributed system concepts from storage and compute perspectives, including data persistence solutions (e.g. HDFS vs RDBMS), data integration techniques (e.g. ETL vs federation), database optimization (e.g. partitioning, distribution, indexing), and join algorithms (e.g. hash vs nested loop)

  • Experience in CI/CD automation for a data lake using CDK (Cloud Development Kit) or Terraform

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building data management platforms with AWS services such as Athena, Glue, Lake Formation, Step Functions, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon EMR and Amazon Redshift

  • Experience with healthcare data formats such as HL7/FHIR, genomics data, and medical imaging data

  • Understanding of healthcare infrastructure and security requirements

  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including MPP and NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, and BI Ops

  • Experience interfacing directly with customers from different levels of the organization to understand requirements and render those as architectural models that will operate at large scale and high performance, and advise customers on how to run these architectural models on AWS

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $204,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
