Assistant Teaching Professor ICB - 33235 Faculty

The Department of Economics at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position starting in the fall semester of 2024. The workload includes teaching of 7 Economic courses per year (70%), research/scholarly activities (20%), and service (10%) to be determined in consultation with the department chair. The duration of the position is one year with possibility of renewal (full-time and full year) depending upon funding and satisfactory performance. The position is based in Denver, CO and requires the individual to travel internationally to Beijing, China to teach at the International College in Beijing for the 12-week fall semester. During the alternate spring semester, the individual will teach in-person on the CU Denver campus in Denver.Candidates should have at least a Ph.D. in Economics by August 2024. All courses are administered and taught by CU Denver faculty in English, and the degree earned is awarded by CU Denver. For the semester in Beijing, faculty receive an allowance to purchase airline tickets to and from Beijing (not including the first ticket to Beijing which is covered by the university), additional incentive/allowance pay in RMB, international health insurance, and the option of free on-campus housing or discounted on-campus housing at higher levels of accommodation. Semesters are 12 weeks long; semester start dates are based on the lunar calendar with fall semesters beginning early to mid-September, and spring semesters beginning in mid-January to early-February.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Our understanding of these requirements includes holding a Master's degree or above, demonstrating at least 2-years teaching experience, and holding a graduate degree that matches the area that the applicant will teach. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
