Job Title: Laborer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer to perform a variety of cleaning tasks on machinery and work areas using hand tools and equipment. You will be responsible for cleaning ash, oil, spills, and other materials, as well as performing overall cleaning during shutdowns. This role requires physical strength and the ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Use hand tools and equipment to clean machinery and work areas.

• Employ shovels, scrapers, power washing equipment, and hoses.

• Clean ash from products and shovel into buckets.

• Clean oil spills and other materials from areas around machinery.

• Perform overall cleaning of entire machines during shutdowns.

• Lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, or crawl repetitively.

• Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

• Climb ladders attached to machinery or stairs.

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in certain areas.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.

• Familiarity with the use of hand and power tools.

• Capability to work varied hours including early mornings or late evenings.

Work Environment

You will be working as a 3rd party contractor at a steel mill. The environment is hot, dirty, loud, and dusty, and you should be prepared for such conditions. Standard shifts are 8 hours starting at 6:30 AM, with potential overtime starting as early as 2 AM or ending as late as 10 AM. Required PPE includes steel toe boots, eye protection, hard hats, double hearing protection in certain areas, and FR coveralls.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
