Job Title: Welder

Job Description

Erecting Structural Steel on multiple projects. Travel to sites throughout the lower mainland. Welding in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Secure necessary jigs and fixtures, and filler material to properly perform welding operations. Practice good housekeeping to keep the work site clear of hazards. Participate in safety meetings. SMAW 95%. Structural and miscellaneous steel work, including welding canopies and awnings on buildings.

Work Environment

Shift - Monday to Friday (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM). Lots of OT. Outdoors in all weather. Working with 4 crews, each crew has 2-3 people. Typically stays with one crew with a lead hand. The installation manager oversees the lower mainland. Need welding pouch, chipping hammer, gloves, helmet. Very positive environment with a focus on supporting employees. No layoffs in 13 years; everyone gets their tickets. Salary ranges from $26-$35, depending on experience.

Hard Skills

• Must have own transportation and a valid driver’s license to get to job sites.

• Ability to independently lift 50 –100 lbs.

• Able to read shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications for direction as to the final product.

• Experience with canopies, stairs, higher-end architectural work, steel miscellaneous ironwork, and roof structures.

• Strong work ethic.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Delta, British Columbia.
