Stetson University Senior Associate Director of International Recruitment AS6480 in DeLand, Florida

The Senior Associate Director for International Recruitment is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluating of recruitment activities for international students, pursuing both degree and non-degree programs. Efforts will be expended to increase and diversify the undergraduate and graduate population through admission and recruitment efforts through eight months of international travel, and other tactics, statistical analysis, market segmentation, alumni support, academic evaluation, and the procurement of financial aid from sources both on and off campus. The Senior Associate Director works closely with the Director of Admissions to develop strategies for international recruitment that are consistent with the University’s mission and goals. The Senior Associate Director will also work with the enrollment leadership team, especially FTIC and Transfer, to support the overall achievement of goals and daily activity objectives of the office.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travels extensively in defined international recruitment territory, at least 8 months per year to cultivating relationships for the University using the tactics listed below (among others).

  • Works with identified agent(s) of the University to support planning, development, and cultivation of new areas for international recruitment and admissions.

  • Through heavy use of outgoing contacts via phone, email, Zoom, etc., the recruiter cultivates, engages, grades, persuades, and closes prospective students. Always qualifies conversation and generates next steps (application, enrollment deposit, CSS profile, housing application, registration, etc.).

  • Renders and communicates admission decisions for international students.

  • Works with the Director of Admissions to oversee the process of SEVIS and other US Department of Homeland Security requirements, including I-20s, and all other related and required such documentation.

  • Maintains SEVIS knowledge and competency and remain up to date on all regulatory issues relative to compliance and update policies and procedures accordingly.

  • After receipt of application materials, determines and informs students of acceptance and award of scholarships. Reviews files for acceptance and presents admission recommendations to admissions committee. Reviews files for scholarship. Makes financial aid packaging/depth sounding calls.

  • Researches, plans and executes fall and spring travel for recruitment, by evaluating previous years' productivity; coordinates travel plans with college and school counselors; meets with prospective students at educational fairs to inform them about the college, i.e. application process, scholarships, funding options, majors, campus activities and on-campus housing.

  • Cultivates relationships with alumni, guidance counselors and other constituents in the international territory to assist with the recruitment process.

  • Works with the enrollment leadership team, WORLD staff, and faculty admissions and faculty international committees to support the overall objectives of Stetson University, as well as serve as a resource for members of the Stetson University community on international admissions requirements and standards.

  • Performs other site and position-specific functions, and other duties as assigned.

  • Regularly review the status of all applicants as it relates to admissions and I-20 documentation. Review and manage Materials Checklist and New Hatter Checklist daily.

  • Determine the best next contact for each of the hot prospects in the territory. This involves regular use of the arsenal, which comprises both printed and web information collected for this purpose and members of the campus community - i.e., faculty, alumni, current students, coaches, and parents of current students.

  • Leads group information sessions and meets one-on-one with parents and prospective students to provide information and assist in the application process on and off campus; gives campus tours when necessary.

    Work Environment: The Enrollment Management division is in an open-aired work environment with about 20-30 employees working at the same time. Noise levels can be high at times, during meetings, and calls. Office space is inside, but Admissions events and some travel require work to be done outside. This is an on-site position on the DeLand campus for 4 months, where being in the office to assist families and team members is necessary.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required (education and/or experience).

  • Bilingual/Fluency in Spanish.

  • A valid Passport.

  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods of time- 8 months international travel/ 4 months domestic.

    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • More than 5 years of experience in recruitment, sales, marketing, retail, and other business-like environments.

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Knowledge of higher education, and the college admissions process.

  • Experience with international recruitment.

    Salary Grade: 8
