Stetson University Assistant Athletic Trainer, Women’s Soccer & Men’s Tennis AS9623 in DeLand, Florida
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Associate Athletic Trainer in the Athletic Training Center . This position will be directly responsible for the medical coverage of the W omen’s S occer and M en’s T ennis teams. Coverage includes, but is not limited to, attending practices, games (home and away), weight training & conditioning sessions, and other team-related functions. Travel is required for in-season and some out-of-season wo men’s soccer competitions and select tennis competitions as approved by the Head Athletic Trainer . Candidates should be prepared to handle all medical referrals to team physicians as well as coordinate care in the prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibilities that come with being a collegiate athletic trainer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer/Health Care Administrator and Associate Athletic Trainer with:
Pre-participation physical examination of all student-athletes
Oversee all phases of rehabilitation for all student-athletes for assigned teams
Staff education and in-service presentations
Assists in recruitment of new athletic trainers
Assists other athletic trainers in coverage of athletic teams who work out of the Athletic Training Center (ATC) and campus training facilities
Serves as liaison between the Sports Medicine staffs, Strength and Conditioning staff, and team physicians
Maintain the Athletic Training Room in the ATC which includes, but is not limited to:
Cleaning
Restocking
Inventory of supplies between athletic training rooms
All medical records are kept in a confidential and secure manner
Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date student-athlete medical records
Assist with development and annual updates to the infectious disease portion of the Sports Medicine Operations Manual
Coordinate Athletic Training Room (ATR) Clinic with team and Associate Physicians
Other assignments deemed appropriate by the Stetson Head Athletic Trainer/Health Care Administrator
Required SkillsRequired Experience
Hold Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification
Athletic Trainer - State Licensed in FL (or eligible to attain within 90 days)
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training OR Master’s in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training for initial certification
If Bachelor’s Degree for Certification, Master’s Degree in related field is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate athletic training experience
2 years of collegiate athletic training experience preferred
Basic Life Support and CPR Certification required
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.
