Quality Control Inspector

1st & 2nd Shift | Dekalb, IL | $21.34

Overview

We are seeking multiple experienced Quality Inspectors for a growing manufacturing company in Dekalb, IL. As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for checking the quality of the products coming off the line. You will precision measurement instruments to check all the dimensions of the sheets. Most sheets are simple and require the same checks, including checking the size of all the holes punched in the sheet, the thickness of the sheets, and making sure they are sealed with no scratches. Some sheets have different cuts that will require more attention to detail and more measuring/comparing with the blueprint to ensure they meet customer specifications.

The typical schedule will be 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM for 1st shift and 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM for 2nd shift. Training will be on 1st shift.

Responsibilities

  • Check the quality of products coming off the line.

  • Measure and inspect all dimensions of the sheets.

  • Check the size of holes punched in the sheets and their thickness.

  • Ensure sheets are sealed and free of scratches.

  • Pay extra attention to sheets with different cuts and compare them with blueprints to meet customer specifications.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years quality control experience (metals or plastics)

  • Proficiency with calipers and micrometers

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • Experience with quality inspection, quality assurance, and quality checks

Work Environment

Large manufacturing plant environment with normal exposure to noise, dust, and hazards associated with working in a high-traffic, heavy machinery manufacturing plant. Typical work hours are Monday through Thursday with overtime on Fridays, which may sometimes be mandatory. Shifts include 6 AM to 4:30 PM and 10 AM to 8:30 PM, with training on the first shift until ready (60-90 days depending on the person). Job requires overtime, and work hours may change at management's discretion with prior notice.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $21.34/hr.
