Good Samaritan School provides educational services for students with significant needs, ages six through twenty-one.

We are seeking a passionate Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education and be able to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assesses levels and needs of individuals and gathers evaluative data; plans and implements instructional goals and programs on the basis of evaluation and assessment; and provides instruction to individuals with developmental disabilities.

· Develop and organize a comprehensive physical education program that meets the needs of the individual and/or group of individuals.

· Participate in the development of the individual's IEPs

· Develops and implements age appropriate daily lesson plans to provide instruction using individual and group intervention strategies to enhance the individuals' basic motor coordination and physical abilities.

· May need to consult with instructors, specialist and families on individual's physical development capabilities

· Maintains classroom conducive to learning and free of health and safety hazards.

· Provide regularly scheduled physical education instruction for all preschool and school age individuals with appropriate adaptations to meet the needs of the individuals.

· Coordinate and maintain the swimming program for the preschool and school aged individuals. Coordinate and maintain the track and field program and bowling program for the intermediate through transitional school aged individuals.

· Prepares and maintains required reports and records (i.e., assessments, program objectives and progress data, correspondence, schedules and informational transmittals to parents).

· Operates educational equipment; prepares materials.

· Required to be a member of the Health and Wellness Committee

· Conducts conferences with individuals' parents or guardians and other appropriate personnel.

· Ensures and maintains harmonious and effective relationship with other employees, program participants, parent/guardians, and state and local community service agencies.

Other duties as appropriate and assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· Shall hold, or be eligible to hold, Certification from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensure for assigned position:

· Knowledge of special education to teach individuals who have developmental disabilities and delays; skill in use of educational equipment and aids; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; establish and maintain good rapport with individuals and staff and families; lift, carry and move individuals as needed.

· Ability to prepare and maintain meaningful, accurate and concise records and reports; write and/or edit materials for publication.

· Knowledge of confidentiality requirements; ability to handle routine and sensitive inquiries from, and contacts with, school employees and individuals' parents or guardians.

· Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.

· May be required to have a Lifeguard Certification.

Shall be physically able to lift, carry, bend and move individuals in a safe manner according to in-service training.
