JOB CLASSIFICATION: CORRECTIONS OFFICER
RATE OF PAY: $22.69 hourly; $23.75 after 1 year. After 6 months of employment, eligible to receive $500.00 bi-annual retention bonus.

Requirements Include:
- Must maintain residency in Northwest Ohio area served by CCNO or the adjacent counties
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
- Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must successfully complete physical and psychological examinations by a CCNO approved physician, including drug testing. Have or be willing to complete Basic Corrections Officer course
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the safety, security, and care of the offenders while following accepted rules for movement and control
- Complete and maintain necessary paperwork for incarceration, intake and release of offenders
- Responsible for transporting offenders as required both inside and outside the facility
- Provide assistance to other personnel in an emergency
- Perform bed checks; check logs; read reports from previous shifts; and confer with previous shift personnel
- Inspect facility for security infringements and violations
- Photograph and fingerprint offenders
- Count and mark clothing and personal articles of clothing for incoming offenders
- Responsible for the safe keeping and release of personal articles upon completion of the sentence
- Communicate with various law enforcement personnel, families, probation officers, medical and legal personnel, social service agencies and other professional staff
- Maintain necessary records and inventories
- Conduct orientation and instruct residents in socially acceptable behavior
- Supervise recreational activities; sports, calisthenics, games etc.
- Supervise and control organized activities and visitations by families and friends
- Deliver meals and supervise offenders during meals
- Prepare daily shift reports and complete discrepancy reports when necessary
- Handle behavior problems on emergency basis and discipline offenders as required according to established procedures
- Ensure that offenders are following all rules and regulations; May be required to intervene in crisis situations
- May be required to work irregular hours, expanded and rotating shifts for 24-hour coverage
- Prepare records for court presentation and supervisors
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions
- Attend self-defense training as scheduled
- May be required to carry a firearm
- Provide input into program development and revision
- Attendance is an essential function of this position
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $22.69 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 41.25 per week
