Job Summary:

Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization who will perform and implement activities that impact components/processes of specified functional areas of the Walgreens Digital/Online application. The Sr. Engineer - Technical Architect for the Stibo Platform will leverage in-depth expertise to design and implement robust solutions on the Stibo Platform. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in data management and MDM (Master Data Management) systems, particularly within an Agile environment. The successful candidate will anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur, typically being assigned to important and complicated undertakings.

This position demands a comprehensive understanding of the organization's current software applications and tools, as well as the ability to handle large, complex projects independently. The role involves developing design skills while having in-depth knowledge of programming languages important to the organization. The candidate will receive work in the form of short- and mid-term assignments that regularly require the application of independent judgment. Additionally, this role includes mentoring less experienced team members and driving the strategic direction of platform operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or application for the software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. Writes code that meets specifications, typically for large and highly complex software programs and systems. Develops software applications and tools. Participates in software design.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field OR High School/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field

  • Experience writing code for moderately complex applications

  • Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices or mobile applications

  • Experience designing/building moderately complex applications/automation

  • Experience writing automation test or deployment scripts

  • Experience creating/coding scripting solution to fix moderately complex problems

  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems

  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace

  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership

  • Willing to travel up to/at least 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a similar field, with a focus on data management and MDM systems

  • Extensive experience with Stibo Systems' STEP MDM platform, including data modeling, data integration, workflow design, and customization

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex MDM solutions that meet high standards of quality and performance in the retail industry

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience with cloud-based MDM solutions and knowledge of modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

  • Expertise in programming languages and technologies relevant to MDM and the Stibo Platform, including Java, XML, XSLT, SQL, and APIs

  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data stewardship practices to ensure the integrity and reliability of master data

  • In-depth knowledge of retail industry standards and practices, including product information management (PIM), inventory management, and customer data management

  • Experience with integrating MDM solutions with retail systems such as ERP, CRM, and POS

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address complex technical challenges proactively

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working closely with internal and external stakeholders to exchange complex information and drive strategic initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team

  • Experience with omnichannel retail strategies and the role of MDM in supporting a seamless customer experience across various touchpoints
