Essendant Sr. Manager, Environmental, Health, Safety, Compliance & Security in Deerfield, Illinois

  • Manager * SRMAN11431 Full-Time Deerfield, IL (FSC) Deerfield, IL, USA ### Description Primary Purpose The Sr. Manager is responsible for managing all aspects related to Environmental, Health, Safety, Compliance and Security systems. This role is responsible for developing and driving a culture to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all associates. This position is accountable for ensuring effective oversight of systems, policies, and procedures to safeguard associates, property, physical assets, and intellectual properties with a commitment to ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication abilities. The role will be responsible for setting and achieving team goals, defining key metrics, establishing metrics tracking, scaling operations to multiple sites, improving management processes, developing internal operations tools and systems as well as physical infrastructure. Major Responsibilities * Drives the Company’s strategic direction and is responsible for implementation of comprehensive Environmental, Health, Safety, Compliance, Security systems, related initiatives, and infrastructure throughout the organization. * Directs and mentors EHCS&S staff to establish goals and expectations, benchmarks activity, track KPIs, provide analysis and report results throughout the organization. * Responsible for overall compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations (OSHA, FDA, EPA, DOT, IMDG, CTPAT). * Coordinates and negotiates contracts with 3rd party service providers for training, audits, analysis, or other services deemed necessary. * Provides individual guidance and support to Managers of Safety, Compliance and Security * Manages EHCS&S staff, processes, budgets, performance management, compliance activities, and associate development. * Understands and demonstrates Essendant’s Core Values. * Performs other duties as assigned. Skills/Knowledge Required * Excellent teamwork skills and ability to interact and partner with others across all levels of the organization to achieve optimal results * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, service oriented, changing environment that requires effective time management and organization skills. * Expert knowledge of OSHA, FDA, EPA, DOT, IMDG, CTPAT and related standards * Accident and incident investigation skills – analysis, inquiry, fact finding, and root cause analysis * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite and familiarity with Distribution Management Systems. * Ability to anticipate the impact of decisions on the field organization. * Advanced knowledge of distribution and fulfillment operations, Essendant network a plus. Education and Experience * Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Law, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Security Management or Security Administration or comparable experience. * Minimum of 10 years job related experience required.
