Decatur Diamond is a privately held, US manufacturer of diamond-based, precision cutting toolsis seeking a qualified Plant Manager to manage and lead plant operations with overallresponsibilities for production, quality and other production related activities.Decatur Diamond has a broad offering of diamond-based tools in the industry. Our products include, but are not limited to the Ultra Mill milling cutter and associated diamond-based cartridges and inserts, fixed-pocket brazed tools, CVD coated solid carbide rounds and inserts, as well as very high precision, diamond based-complex rounds, (e.g., automotive reamers, valve seat and guide tools, etc.)
The Plant Manager will be responsible for: Direction and management of plant operations for production, quality and shipping and receiving. Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner. Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards. Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary. Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives. Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel. Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors. Management of machinery, production and processes, workflow, scheduling, quality control, materials and supplies inventory, workplace organization and maintenance, and safety protocols. Workforce management of the production staff. Implementing best practices across all facets of the operation. Establishing standards for work processes. Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on time delivery Working closely with ownership. Direct oversight and supervision of all plant personnel.
Qualifications and Skills Have 10 years of experience in manufacturing and machining along with a genuine interest and aptitude in the field Desire to stay relevant in the most common technologies of machining and manufacturing Possesses a goal-orientated work ethic and drive to succeed while also being a self-starter and dedicated team player Exhibits effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in related field or five years plant/general management experience in a close tolerance manufacturing environment with responsibilities in machine operation. Minimum 5 years of experience supervising CNC machine operators, processes and equipment.
