Based at the Task Force for Global Health in Decatur, GA, and affiliated with Emory University, the Neglected Tropical Diseases Support Center (NTD-SC) aims to optimize operational research and surveillance to eliminate neglected tropical diseases which threaten the lives and well-being of millions of people in some of the world’s most marginalized communities. This work, conducted in close coordination with partners, addresses challenges facing each phase of the programs targeting the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): effectively scaling up to reach those at risk, successfully scaling down when their goals are reached, and finally sustaining the reductions achieved in disease prevalence. The NTD-SC hosts the secretariat for the Coalition for Operational Research on NTDs (COR-NTD), a global partnership focused on supporting this research agenda. The NTD-SC is actively pursuing an expanding portfolio focused on providing important services and support to the NTD community.

The Business and Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating and supporting various business processes for a DHIS2 system for neglected tropical diseases. They document requirements and workflows, develop and implement testing processes, lead review meetings, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Additionally, they are responsible for facilitating data analytics in collaboration with other team members. The role involves managing metadata, planning and prioritizing activities, ensuring seamless operation and continuous improvement of business processes, and facilitating on time and accurate data analysis, reporting and use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates efforts to ensure that information systems support departmental objectives and information management needs.

  • Supports efforts to ensure that information systems upholds overall organizational mission and objectives.

  • Works closely with departmental customers to conduct business analysis and identify business objectives and requirements.

  • Assists in the development of technology plans and strategies.

  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of systems related projects.

  • Maintains a high level of client satisfaction with Information Services as provided to assigned clients.

Coordinate system enhancements, testing and maintenance (55%):

  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and working group meetings to define requirements for system enhancements, reach census among internal and external partners, and document requirements

  • Document key business processes for use in published materials and integrating client feedback into the final version of the business analysis and system requirements documentation

  • Manage communications and facilitate testing processes for enhancing system features and addressing issues (develop testing plans and timelines, coordinate the testing process with external partners, perform user acceptance testing, review others’ feedback, communicate and prioritize testing findings, etc.)

  • Contribute to management of information system metadata (may include making updates directly or coordinating with a software developer for updates, tracking updates dates and requirements, etc.)

Conduct Data Analysis to Facilitate Learning and Reporting (40%):

  • Configure and/or provide input on new/revision of existing data collection forms, indicators/program indicators, reporting tables and dashboards

  • Provide support to users related to data analytics (e.g., investigate and troubleshoot data discrepancies)

  • Conduct data analyses to facilitate routine reporting requirements

  • Conduct analyses to respond to ad hoc requests for data from USAID, implementing partners, NTD Data Center, or other stakeholders

  • Collaborate with colleagues to inform timeline and specific tasks for data requests, and communicate progress towards and risks to completing data requests on time and with high quality

  • Document data analysis approaches

  • Prepare data sets with code books for analyses and for manuscripts for publications

  • Train users to enter, review, interpret and/or report data

Other duties as required (5%):

  • Participate fully as a member of The Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting, and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management

  • May participate in writing of new business proposals, and prepare and present reports to funding organizations and to clients

  • Participate in relevant Communities of Practice

  • Assist Director of Data Analytics with special projects as necessary

Travel:

  • Up to 10% Domestic and international travel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of position specific subject matter knowledge and/or experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business functions OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University/The Task Force for Global Health on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory/The Task Force for Global Health reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
