We are looking for a talented and passionate Design System Engineer to join our growing team. As a Design System Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and evolving our design system, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all our digital products. You will collaborate closely with designers and developers to create reusable components, establish design standards, and promote the adoption of the design system throughout the organization.

What you'll do…

  • Develop and Maintain Design System Components: Build and maintain libraries, engineering assets, and related documentation.

  • Utilize your expertise to balance web design standards alongside business goals, branding aesthetics, and marketing needs.

  • Work with different teams of designers and developers to implement the design system in a consistent way across different tech stacks.

  • Collaborate with Designers and Developers: Work closely with designers to translate visual designs into functional components and collaborate with developers to ensure proper implementation and integration.

  • Establish and Enforce Design Standards: Define and document design standards, guidelines, and best practices for the design system.

  • Promote Design System Adoption: Advocate for the use of the design system across the organization through training, documentation, and communication.

  • Ensure Accessibility: Ensure that all design system components meet accessibility standards (WCAG) to provide inclusive user experiences.

  • Test Component Functionality: Implement unit and integration tests to ensure the reliability and quality of design system components.

  • Write Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for design system components, including usage guidelines, code examples, and API references.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience contributing to a design system, component library, or front-end development projects

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a triad of product managers, designers, and engineers.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • A willingness to adapt, learn new technologies, and evangelize best practices.

  • A strong inclination toward digital transformation and automation.

  • Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Tailwind CSS, and Web Components

  • Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development.

  • Strong working knowledge of Figma and how to construct components, variants, variables, collections, and modes.

Even better, you may have…

  • Previous experience with design system documentation tools (GitHub, Jfrog, Storybook, NetStorage, ZeroHeight, etc).

  • Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies

  • Experience building design systems that are multi-brand and platform agnostic.

  • Experience with conforming to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

  • Exposure to paired programming and Agile/Lean methodologies.

  • Desire to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
