A Day in the Life of a Communications and Signals Intern

As an intern working with the Communication and Signals (C&S) team, you will assist field officers and staff on a variety of projects.
Primary duties will include assisting with: testing and maintenance of C&S facilities, the installation and commissioning of C&S equipment and systems, accuracy verification of databases used in hump yards and train dispatching systems, revisions to electronic drawings and schematics, deployment of new technology, and other duties. Interns may also travel with a supervisor to field locations to ensure adherence to corporate and departmental standards and procedures.

What Makes a Successful Intern? Must have knowledge and operational skills in electronics combined with competency in computer software applications - knowledge of Windows, Access, Excel, and Word is preferred Willingness to travel and work outdoors is required, as well as a willingness to work extended hours when situations dictate General hands-on knowledge of electronic equipment with good troubleshooting and problem solving skills is helpful

Freshman Year $3,557
Sophomore Year $3,922
Junior Year $4,266
Senior Year $4,493
Masters Year $5,406
PHD Year $6,366 Other Pay/Benefits:
Pay one time roundtrip mileage for out of area students
$425/bi-monthly housing stipend for out of area students (Not prorated) * note this stipend will be taxed
