Ford Motor Company Software Engineer, Platform Systems in Dearborn, Michigan

In this role, you will perform the following:

  • Design different layers of the platform software stack within the pillars of occupant accommodation and visibility, identity and security, and diagnostics and data, preservation improving modularity and cohesion.

  • Drive industry standard practices in API development for Platform Systems across different segments– spanning both embedded AUTOSAR-based offerings within a distributed ECU environment and access to cloud-based resources as well.

  • Provide system design and analysis direction to build the appropriate system architecture, incorporating power and performance, and safety criticality and security of accessibility of resources from internal, and external developers.

  • Contribute and provide direction on testing the platform stack in layers, though Behavior-Driven-Development techniques.

  • Oversee platform API SDK development and API documentation for developer community.

  • Champion platform development health metrics, for continuous improvement.

  • Lead standardization activities in the realm of software defined vehicle development, offering vehicle services with Android, data collection, command and control, came experiences, video streaming and notification.

Must have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Robotics or related field

• 5+ years of proven working experience in Software engineering – embedded

• Hands on experience in Android automotive ecosystem and HAL layer

• Hands-on technical role engaged in developing, implementing and supporting software applications

• Extensive experience in vehicle signals and services

• Extensive experience in Ethernet SOA technologies like SOME /IP

• Familiarity with Embedded Software engineering, preferably Autosar toolchain and its lifecycle, MISRA coding standards

• Programming in C++ / Python

• 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering preferably in Automotive domain

• Familiarity with ASPICE, ISO 26262 and SAE standards

• Familiarity with sysML and modeling language/tools

• Familiarity with Domain controller and distributed systems

• Familiarity with Connected Vehicle distributed systems.

• Familiarity with embedded automotive development boards (Renesas, NXP etc.)

• 3+ years of work experience in Agile project involvement

• Unit, integration, regression, user testing and load testing

• 2+ years of Prototyping experience

• Code quality tools (42Crunch, SonarQube, CheckMarx, etc.…)

• GIT hub, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle and CI/CD tools.

• Proven experience in embedded robotic systems design with real-time operating systems

• Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems

• Experience in apple CarPlay

• Experience in vehicle cybersecurity

• Experience in device driver development in CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SENT, I2C, SPI etc.

• Understanding of clean code practices

• Strong documentation and writing skills

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

• Great collaboration and communication skills.

This position is a salary grade 8.
