Ford Motor Company Senior Manager, Vehicle Controls in Dearborn, Michigan

The Ford Purchasing team adds critical value to the entire organization. You’ll help us source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. You’ll also contribute to establishing a robust supply chain so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want.

Ford Motor Company’s Digital Technology supply chain team is looking for a highly capable Senior Purchasing Manager. This team is composed of 2 commodity managers, 1 SCBS operational manager and 1 category manager who, along with our Engineering, Supplier Technical Assistance, and Manufacturing teams will help ensure world class delivery by our supply base. The candidate will interact with Suppliers and Ford Sites globally, managing a book of business in FNA valued at approximately $1B in annual FTO.

In this position...

  • Lead and develop a high performing Purchasing team to ensure on-time sourcing for our next generation vehicle controls modules.

  • Drive team to achieve TVM cost savings targets.

  • Establish/strengthen supplier relationships, enabling Ford to better align with and influence supplier technology roadmaps.

What you'll do...

  • Develop, manage, and execute category business plans (CBP) and supply base strategy for various Vehicle Controls commodities, to ensure security of supply at best cost.

  • Support team in issuing RFQ’s to source next generation vehicle controls modules, working in close collaboration with PD.

  • Engage supplier partners at the executive and corporate level to develop strong partnerships. Hold regular Business reviews with suppliers.

  • Manage team on supplier emerging significant issues (Quality, cost and delivery) and drive internal risk mitigation.

  • Focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning, and ensuring that the sections’ employees receive development and coaching required to realize full potential.

  • Champion continuous improvement activities (including bureaucracy/efficiency improvements).

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business/supply chain.

  • 10+ years of experience in Purchasing, Engineering, or Sales.

  • Prior specialized focus on electronic modules.

  • Experience in purchasing role in Ford VHM or indirect material preferred.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills. Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships across technical and business teams globally.

  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills; those needed to interact with external and internal stakeholders.

  • Proactive and resourceful with strong organizational and people development skills

  • Experience moving seamlessly from strategy to execution and deliver tangible results.
