The Coordinator, Youth and Family Programs works in conjunction with the Learning and Engagement team to implement PreK-12 programming. In this role, the coordinator will support the planning and activation of innovative educational programming like THF Summer Camp, Tinkering for Tots and Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) Cultural Passport Initiative Field Trips. The coordinator supports other department activities as a member of the broader Learning & Engagement team.

This is a part-time hybrid position averaging no more than 28 hours per week with the expectation that the coordinator will have to be onsite to perform many of their duties. Reports to the Manager, Youth and Family Learning Engagement.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coordinates logistics for youth and family programming such as THF Summer Camps, Tinkering for Tots, and DPSCD Cultural Passport Initiative Field Trips. Including reserving rooms, requesting volunteers, reserving tickets and communicating project status with stakeholders.

• Manages materials for all Learning and Engagement – Youth and Family programs. Including researching and ordering supplies, tracking deliveries, maintaining storage spaces, and keeping track of inventory.

• Collaborates interdepartmentally to implement youth and family programs. Teams include museum programming, village programming, guest services, the contact center, purchasing, and food service.

• Supports the development and management of camp by building schedules and rosters, tracking participant attendance, and acting as a main point of contact for camp families.

• Supports the development of the THF Summer Camp team by conducting counselor interviews facilitating training and acting as a supervisor during camp.

• Assists with the implementation and planning of Learning and Engagement programs through team collaboration and on-site support.

• Knows, understands, and applies all policies and emergency procedures to maintain the safety and wellbeing of program participants.

• Follows The Henry Ford and the Learning & Engagement team guidelines in conducting programs and projects including communication with participants, applications, awards, contracts, and reporting.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, some college preferred

• Proficient with Microsoft Office

• Experience in logistical planning preferred
