Ford Motor Company Controls Applications Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

Controls Applications Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. The D&R is also responsible to look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization.

What you'll do...

  • Design/Package exhaust emissions sensors such as Oxygen sensors such as UHEGO & CMS, EGTs (Exhaust gas temperature), and GPSA (Gas pressure sensor assemblies).

  • Package Powertrain controls modules such as PCM, TCM, TCCM among others (Package them as direct mount or design a new bracket).

  • Design brackets as required for sensors and modules.

  • Track and meet thermal components requirements and status of sensors and modules. Modify design if required to protect components.

  • Lead sourcing activities and provide sourcing packages during early stages of the program.

  • Lead technical design reviews with SME.

  • Lead Quality/FMA documents.

  • Maintain FEDEBOM with accurate cost, weight, lead time, among other information.

  • Manage engineering changes; Design Change Requests (DCR), Program cost approvals, FEDEBOM, CMF, WERS, Change Control, Alerts, etc.

  • On-site Support for different vehicle builds (BOM validation, breadboards, NMPDC, DCV, TT, PP, and through J1 and OPD).

You'll have...

Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Mechanical or related.

3 years of automotive product development experience focused on design & release for production programs.

Even better, you may have...

Master's of Science in Engineering: Mechanical or related.

Experience in underbody systems.

Experience in DV & PV development.

Demonstrated GPDS experience, Milestones deliverables.

Knowledge of engineering disciplines (P-Diagram, DFMEA, DVP&R).

Knowledge of WERS, FEDE, FEDEBOM, Global Integrator, Catia.

Powertrain Control Systems knowledge and basic understanding of PT sensor's function.

TCE/ WERS knowledge (recommended).

Must be a motivated self-starter with goal of delivering a quality part on time and ability to work with cross functional teams.

Fluent capability to understand packaging conversations in English.

This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG8 .
