Overview
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for maintaining, securing, and operating databases and ensures that data is correctly stored and retrieved. In addition, the DBA often works with developers to design and implement new features and troubleshoot any issues. Aligning Technology strategy with business goals has become paramount, and a Database Administrator plays a pivotal role in shaping an organization's technology infrastructure and ensuring that it meets the business's needs.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
• Responsible for the overall management and upkeep of databases, including installing and configuring, applying security patches, and monitoring database performance.
Database architects design databases to meet the specific needs of an organization.
• Collect and analyze data to help improve database performance.
• Support data modelers create and maintain data models that depict the relationship between data elements. Data modeling is a critical component of effective database design.
• Responsible for administrating databases that support applications. Specific tasks include installing and configuring applications, ensuring that data is synchronized correctly between databases, and troubleshooting application-related issues.
• Responsible for databases backup and recovery, security, or performance tuning.
• Performance analysts monitor database performance and identify areas where improvement is needed.
• Responsible for administrating databases hosted in a cloud computing environment, provisioning and managing database instances, setting up replication and high availability, and monitoring database performance. Develop and maintain high-level and low-level architectural designs for complex systems, ensuring they align with organizational goals and requirements.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to ensure the selection of the most suitable technology stack for database administration.
• Design databases that can scale to meet growing demands and ensure optimal performance under various load conditions.
• Implement security measures and best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure system security compliance.
• Create comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, system configurations, and best practices to guide development teams and support ongoing maintenance.
• Provide expert-level support for troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to databases subjects.
• Works with vendors to define optimal infrastructure architecture and hardware/networking requirements.
• Applies technical knowledge to develop clear and standard work instructions.
• Documents configuration changes with associated test cases and performs functional validation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or similar field
• Preferred: Master’s degree
• 5+ years as a Data Database Administrator or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Qualifications
• Minimum of 5+ years of professional or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with Database administration
• Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure
• Experience in PostgreSQL, Azure and DRUID
• Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
• Professional experience working with and analyzing computer hardware and software
• Strong analytic and decision-making abilities. Able to influence others to move towards a common goal
• A strong team player who can work closely with multiple functional groups in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivation and resourcefulness
• Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize work, and deliver quality results
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required, ability to describe technical theory to technical and non-technical audience
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects.
• A global perspective with the ability to understand and work effectively in a culturally diverse organization.
• Must possess good understanding of general functions of the system components.
• Strong knowledge of software and hardware architecture principles.
• Proficiency in various programming languages, database management systems, and cloud technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Good understanding of various models and phases of SDLC
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Knowledge and skills preferred for:
o PostgreSQL
o DRUID
o DBMS
o AWS and Azure
o Experience with enterprise architecture
o Experience working with IT architecture frameworks
o Understanding of IT security, infrastructure, and governance
• Able to work independently and in a team environment, as well as with cross-functional groups
• Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
