Sierra Nevada Corporation Sr. Operations Manager: Paint Hangar in Dayton, Ohio

Sierra Nevada Corporation is in the development process for a large-scale corrosion control and paint facility for military and civilian aircraft. Built to the most advanced, and sustainable facility of its type in the world. This new world class facility will provide the capability of processing any aircraft ranging in size from VIP transport to advanced combat aircraft to the largest of military cargo air frames. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain efficient/high performance team striving to achieve man-hour objectives.

  • Efficiently manage the assigned production activity on the shop floor, collaborating with the Paint Shop Manager.

  • Coordinate the proper application of manpower for each job in order to satisfy the scheduling requirements.

  • Ensure that all completed assigned tasks have been inspected in accordance with the repair station manual.

  • Ensure a clean, neat, safe and professional working environment.

  • Ensure customer communication for all assigned shop activity.

  • Participate in meetings with key cross department personnel in order to coordinate inter-departmental activity, hanger shuffles, test flights, aircraft wash, etc.

  • Manage advance planning to enable a smooth workflow for the projects.

  • Collaborate with Paint Shop Supervisor to ensure team members have tooling and materials needed to accomplish assigned task in a timely manner to maximize efficiencies.

  • Participate in meetings with key cross department personnel in order to coordinate inter-departmental activity, hanger shuffles, test flights, aircraft wash, etc.

  • Manage advance planning to enable a smooth workflow for the projects.

  • Ensure goal times are assigned to every discrepancy and manage the time to assure expectations are meet by the technicians.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field of study, typically 6-8 years of relevant experiance

  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Comprehensive understanding of and experience with the practical application of production/manufacturing principles, techniques, and warehousing best practices

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Advanced experience with materials management systems

  • Previous supervisory experience; the ability to recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
